Tuğsal Moğul, born in 1969 in Neubeckum, holds degrees in acting, directing, anesthesiology, and emergency medicine, for which he studied, in parallel and over the course of nine years, medicine in Hannover, Vienna, and Lübeck, as well as acting at the Conservatory for Music, Theater and Media in Hannover. Mogul works part-time in a teaching hospital in Münster, and performed in film and on the stage, he also writes and directs plays.
His debut play Semi-Strong Demigods earned him an invitation to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2011. While this play is told from the doctors' perspective, his follow-up play Somnia gives voice to patients in an intensive care unit. Both texts were developed in collaboration with his theatre company «Theater Operation».
In 2013 his play The German Ayşe was invited to the festival «Made in Germany» in Stuttgart as well as to the NRW-Theatertreffen in 2014, where it won both the Audience Award and the Youth Jury Award.
Auch Deutsche unter den Opfern was invited to the prestigious Autorentheatertage 2015 at Deutsches Theater Berlin, and in 2016 to both the Heidelberger Stückemarkt and the Privattheatertage in Hamburg where it received the Monica Bleibtreu Award in the category «(Contemporary) Drama».
