Just a moment ago, Robin and Aaron were busy with famous resistance fighters, but suddenly everything has changed: locked in a strange digital space that bears an uncanny resemblance to their spreadsheet document, they are to answer for their actions before a virtual court – the Shell affair, the physical altercation with a police officer. But aren't these trivialities compared to all the injustice in the world? Should one just sit back and accept everything? And who are they actually supposed to justify themselves to here? A bot? When Jeanne appears in the «cell» and demands to see the king, reality is completely shaken – can it really be that Joan of Arc herself has appeared here to await her upcoming trial and punishment? Wouldn't this be the perfect opportunity for Robin and Aaron to prevent Jeanne's execution and simply rewrite history?
In Safe and Sorry, Fayer Koch brings the struggles of the present into collision with those of the past, today's young people with an icon of the struggle for freedom – and in doing so, he addresses the urgent and timeless questions of power and powerlessness, of forms of ‘appropriate’ protest, individual responsibility in times of social upheaval – and the point at which the boundaries of law and order must be shaken in order to stand up for the greater good: for a future in which freedom and equality are possible for all.
