Enough is enough: sitting around and staring at a future without prospects, wasting time, something has to happen. And so a group of young people take their fate into their own hands. With Karl von Moor as their leader, they form a gang of robbers that not only roams the Bohemian forests to finally find meaning in their lives. And if you can do good for others in the process, then everything is actually fine, isn't it? However, when things threaten to get out of hand, the question of responsibility for one's own actions increasingly arises – and whether the path they have chosen is really as righteous as they assumed.

What ideals and beliefs do we stand for today? How do you navigate a world in which conflicts are simmering, but you still want to find your place? In The Robbers, Felix Krakau, unlike Friedrich Schiller, does not focus on the fraternal conflict, but on the experiences of the robber gang, their youthful exuberance and their irrepressible desire to change society for the better. He captures the drive of a generation that wants to overcome corrupt structures – whatever the cost.

«A classic that Krakau has turned inside out and transferred to the present ... With great sensitivity, he reveals the dynamics within the group... There is no more casual way to grasp the period of ‹Sturm und Drang›.» (Rheinische Post)
