Together with their mother, the two siblings have left their homeland and now live in a new country where everything is unfamiliar, where everything sounds strange and nothing is like it was at home. How they would love to return to where their mother was a great sorceress, where friendly spirits lived in the forest and everything was wonderful. Their father is also there, having been left behind during the escape and planning to follow them, but they have waited in vain for him and do not know if he is well. However, returning would be too dangerous, because their homeland is now ruled by Koschey, the Deathless One, who roams the land with his cannon towers, leaving nothing but destruction in his wake and turning people into birds. One day, a magical path opens up, catapulting the siblings into the enchanted world of yesteryear. An adventurous journey begins for them: they meet Mokuscha, who controls the clouds and wants to help them not only find their father, but also defeat the terrible Koschey and free all the people he holds captive.

Markolf Naujoks whisks us away to a fairy-tale world where children surpass themselves, wizards understand the language of birds, and people can walk on clouds. A play that encourages us to trust in our own strengths, in storytelling, and in the power of imagination in difficult times.
