It’s the heist of the century. A gang of museum robbers are preparing to break into the treasure trove of German history: the colonial art collection in Berlin’s City Palace. Wouldn’t the theft of these artifacts, which were stolen from all over the world in the first place, be the ultimate anti-theft – a sort of deconstruction of reconstruction? But their carefully laid plan soon comes up against concrete obstacles. Not only is the specially formed ‹Task Force Art Theft› hot on the heels of the thieves, but the context of their own mission turns out to be full of unexpected pitfalls: isn’t the spirit of the Enlightenment the very thing that made colonialism, oppression and notions about white supremacy possible in the first place? And doesn’t any action, no matter how well-intentioned, reinforce this abuse?

In order to stay true to their plan in spite of all this, there is only one option open to Eisenach’s characters: sabotaging their own history. Via detours and deductions they pile time periods one on top of the other, meeting in bourgeois living rooms and in the belly of the Trojan Horse, until their theft eventually leads them into a semiotic impasse from which only a radical course of action can free them…
