And At Night We Lie Silently
(Und in den Nächten liegen wir stumm)

Jacob wants to be victimized. At night he roams the streets of his neighbourhood to get beaten up. Meanwhile, his sister Marla sleeps with every guy in the neighbourhood and watches herself doing it, as if she were somebody else. The parents are separated - the mother has become a religious fanatic, the father moved out. As did Robert's and Marlen's mother, whose father has been paralyzed after a stroke. Marlen has not left her room or spoken to anyone for a year. Robert takes care of her, provides food, nurses the father. When Jacob doesn't return from his last nightly escapade, Robert and Mara go on a search for him - a search, during which contradicting forces develop their pull: resignation and departure, to be out of one's mind, and then to find oneself, and the longing to die and wake up in reality.
