Jester, conman and provocateur Tyll Uhlenspiegel is caught up in the chaos of the Thirty Years War. He witnesses bloody battles, experiences starvation, poverty and religious fanaticism, meets kings and queens, monks and farmers, poets and dragon seekers. Tyll delivers a depiction of an epoch using the form of baroque world theatre, featuring the multi-layered voices of a war anchored in modern consciousness as an immense human catastrophe.
