Leonie Ziem

Leonie Ziem studied philosophy and political science in Leipzig and Berlin. She is currently studying at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2023, she received a grant from the Austrian Ministry of Culture for work on her first novel. With her first play, Kind aus Seide (Child of Silk), she won the SWR Radio Play Prize at the 41st Heidelberger Stückemarkt in 2024. In the autumn of the same year, she was artist in residence at the Filmhaus Basel. In 2025, she received the playwright's scholarship from the Austrian Ministry of Culture and the literature scholarship from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation. She also works as a journalist for print and radio, including for Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
