Ibrahim Amir

Ibrahim Amir was born in Aleppo in 1984 and studied theatre and media studies there. After three semesters he was expelled for his work with a Kurdish student organisation. He escaped to Vienna in 2002 where he studied medicine and currently practices as a doctor. During his studies he began writing in German. 2013 saw the world premiere of his debut play, Habe die Ehre. His other plays include Stirb, bevor du stirbst (2015), Heimwärts (2017) and Homohalal for which he was nominated for both the 2018 Mülheim Dramatic Writing Prize and for the Nestroy Theatre Award.
