Sibylle Berg (born in Weimar) was a puppeteer before she left for West Germany in 1984. She studied for a short time at the artist’s school Scuola Dimitri in Tessin and eventually worked in a number of jobs.
In 1997, her first novel Ein paar Leute suchen das Glück und lachen sich tot was published (Reclam, Leipzig). Her plays Helges Leben and Hund, Frau, Mann were nominated in 2001 and 2002 for the most prestigious award for German speaking playwrights, the Mülheim Dramatists’ Award. Several of her plays have been translated and produced in various countries.
