Lars Norén (born in 1944 in Stockholm). He started writing at the age of thirteen; his first collection of poems Syrener, snö was published in 1963. Since then he has been writing poetry, novels, theatre-, television- and radio plays. After the premieres of the two joined plays about hotels, Night, Mother of Day (Natten är dagens mor) and Chaos is Close to God (Kaos är granne med Gud), Norén was voted Dramatist of the Year in Sweden in 1983. His following play Demoner(Demons) was also an international success in 1983/4 and finally established Norén as one of the most significant and frequently played contemporary dramatists in Scandinavia. In June 1994, Norén was awarded the prestigious Pilotpris; in 1998 he received the Dramatist’s Award from the Nordic Theatre Union for Kliniken. In 2003 he was given the Swedish Academy's Nordic Award. Since 1993, Norén has been working as a director and was Director of the Riksteatern Norsborg, Stockholm from 1998 until 2007. Together with Ulrika Josphsson he was Artistic Director of the Folkteatern in Goteborg from 2009 until 2011.
