4F / 3M,

The three sisters Helen, Marie, and Irina have no need to dream about the wide world - they know it well, almost too well. Their mother, a journalist, never stopped circling the globe to report from diverse hot spots up till this day - as if there were not enough problems at home. Helene, 36, a single chemist, cannot find a job in spite of her first-rate qualifications. Marie, 33, a former bookseller, is mired in the wasteland of her marriage. And Irina, 25, relishes in the bohemian life style of being an art student. All three live in the big city, but occasionally they feel compelled to go back to the provincial backwaters, to their parents' house, now under the care of Tilman, their half brother. His sisters are appalled, but unable to move on themselves: Marie fails in her attempt to have an affair, and Irina is left by her husband, which makes her realize how much she had cared about him without knowing it. But Helen gets an offer to become the director of a lab in China. Yet the decision to leave turns out to be unexpectedly difficult....
