In the stifling heat, Gunter, a doctor sans frontiers, makes his way home through a depopulated town. When two brothers seize him, he is almost compliant due to sheer thirst. They lead him through the empty streets to their apartment, where he is supposed to heal their sister Hedy from a rare disease. His hands tremble, blood flows, but Hedy does not seem to mind. Then night falls. In sparse sentences that seem parched by the sun, Händl Klaus creates characters who oscillate between politeness and monstrosity. “A daytime nightmare, as absurd and eerie as Kafka’s Metamorphosis.” (Die Welt).
