The suicide of a young priest and the refusal of his closest friend to identify him present policeman Erwin Tobser with a mystery. Gradually it is revealed that high-ranking officials in the church know more than they are letting on, weaving a tight web of intrigue. When it suddenly comes to light that the deceased has been diagnosed with leprosy, Tobster, along with other men who had been in contact with the body, is put under quarantine.

«A play with an intricate and sophisticated inner life, full of allusions to internal problems within the church, and theological as well as global questions. This is not an indictment of the established church, but a comparison of oppositional and conserving powers.» (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung)
