Two doctors, a mother and daughter. The mother is a respected, experienced medic at a pharmaceutical firm. She loses her position one day when she refuses to continue covering up an obvious deficiency in a medicament on behalf of the firm. Her daughter works in a hospital and specializes in researching an audacious prophylaxis for pulmonary shock. Her ambitiousness drives her so far that she loses sight of who benefits by her experiments which in one case leads to the death of a patient. Guilt casts the two women into an irresolvable conflict whose victim is ultimately their 17-year-old son and grandson. Indirectly, the two doctors are responsible for his death.
