Every Monday is Laundry Day, and the former Leaders of the German Empire act as washerwomen in prison. Ten years, twenty years, or forever behind bars, doing the laundry on Monday. In the end, the lifer speaks his monologue to the washing machine. A variation on absurd theater: The onetime heroes refuse to get off the pedestal. A political grotesque: these men are incapable to grapple with history and their own roles they played in it. Unmasking themselves through their language and their thinking: the humor comes from the attempt of these Nazis to adapt to the new times and become conservatives.

World premiere
17.3.1995 Kampnagel Hamburg (Director: Johannes Kaetzler)
