«Everyone But the Unicorn» is the name of the school class chat group. Everyone’s invited, except Netti. She has to watch helplessly as the display of her phone fills up with lies, hateful comments and threats. Not even Julius, her best friend, has been on her side since Fever, the new girl, began ruling the roost. And what can her parents or teachers do against this overwhelming avalanche of anonymous insults? So Netti does and says nothing. Until the day of the fancy dress party. It’s the day when the others plan to deal with Netti, the unicorn, once and for all. But nothing happens as expected...

While the incidence of cyberbullying among teenagers has increased dramatically, parents and teachers alike seem poorly prepared to deal with the problem. Kirsten Fuchs approaches this issue in an entertaining yet drastic way without demonising the internet and social media. «The play dramatises with empathy and verve how things are shared and ripple outwards at breakneck speed, how from one moment to the next 30, then 50, then 100 kids are involved, how that turns into a noose around the neck of the girl in the unicorn costume and how it all careens towards a catastrophe.» (Junge Welt)

«The pressing nature of this issue hovers over the audience’s evening, but this play scampers around underneath it in a funny, instructive and light manner. The internet per se, we should remember, isn’t evil.» (Berliner Zeitung)

«A wonderful play ... Everyone But the Unicorn doesn’t only pose important questions about how we use social and anti-social media but also discusses courage and solidarity.» (Der Tagesspiegel)

World premiere
17.05.2017 Grips Theater, Berlin (Director: Robert Neumann)
