Jeffers - Act I: The American poet Robinson Jeffers and his wife Una look back on their life together. Having been sidelined by the critics because of his culturally conservative views, Jeffers only recourse is Una who gives him her unlimited support until the day of her death. The text, infused with original poems and quotations, recounts the couple's unconditional love.

Jeffers - Act II: A dramatization of Jeffers' epic poem Mara. Farmer Bruce Ferguson's young wife Fawn is cheating on him with his brother, Allen. In spite of his neighbors as well as his mother's attempt to open his eyes to the fact, he vehemently opposes all accusations. When Bruce finally loses his mind, they all continue to live in the mother's house: Fawn and Allan now openly as a couple, Bruce clinging to his radio, oblivious of his surroundings, listening to news of the beginning of the Second World War.
